Monthly care calendar

Timings are for a temperate Northern Hemisphere climate. In warmer areas tasks start earlier, in colder areas later; in the Southern Hemisphere shift them by six months.

  • General care: Make sure the root zone is well drained but does not dry out; leaf mulch is beneficial.

  • General care: The most critical period for staying healthy begins; wet the surroundings frequently to increase humidity.
  • Pests & diseases: Browning (scorching) on the leaf edges is a sign of water stress or low humidity.

  • Fertilizing: Never given.
  • Plant protection: Continue controlling spider mites.
